Why camp matters

Camp isn’t a break from learning. It’s the lesson.

Teachers see the change in their students by the bus ride home, and Australian research backs it up. Studies supported by the Australian Camps Association and the Outdoor Youth Programs Research Alliance found that camps measurably change young people:

01

Less anxiety

Students with higher anxiety were significantly less anxious after an outdoor program.

02

More confidence

Campers with low self-efficacy showed significantly boosted confidence after camp.

03

Real resilience

Students demonstrated measurably more resilient responses to challenges after going on camp.

04

Stronger connection

Shared challenge and screen-free time build friendships and a stronger sense of belonging at school.

Why Camp Sunnystones

You bring the students. We do the rest.

Our mission is to support the holistic development of students, and to make camp the easiest week of your term, not the hardest.

  • Fully-led programs. Every activity is run by our experienced outdoor instructors, so your staff can focus on the students, not the ropes.
  • Seamless planning. A dedicated team supports you from first enquiry to final head-count, covering program design, dietary needs, the lot.
  • A real bush setting. Bordering the Long Forest Nature Conservation Reserve, with our own dam, tracks, cliffs and campfire circles.
  • Value for investment. Competitive pricing with programs designed to maximise engagement, and proven results we keep refining with every school’s feedback.
  • Child safety first. A family business with a zero-tolerance approach to inappropriate behaviour and child safety embedded in everything we do.
The program

Activities they’ll be talking about for years to come

Half-day adventures and rotation activities, matched to your students’ ages and your camp’s goals.

A student roaming the misty bushland during the Survival Game

The Survival Game

Our hugely popular signature game, where teams chase, hunt and hide across five acres of bushland, seeing bush life from an animal’s point of view.

Two students paddling a canoe on the Sunnystones dam

Canoeing

Basic skills, then games and teamwork challenges on our four-megalitre dam. A Term 1 and Term 4 favourite.

A student drawing back a recurve bow at the archery range

Archery

Small-group instruction with quality recurve bows, teaching precision, patience and a lot of cheering, from Grade 3 up.

Students paddling a home-built raft across the dam

Raft building

Logs, barrels, rope and teamwork, then the moment of truth when the raft (and its crew) hits the water.

Children climbing the bouldering wall at Sunnystones

Bouldering wall

Our custom climbing wall is the perfect introduction to rock climbing, with age-appropriate games for every group.

Campers enjoying damper they cooked over the campfire

Bush cooking

Damper, billy tea and the legendary chocolate cake baked in an orange, all cooked over the campfire.

Tents pitched on the lawn at dusk for a school campout

Campouts

A night under canvas beneath the stars. On a three-day camp, half the group can camp out while the other half stays in the homestead, then swap the next night.

Eat well, sleep warm

Everything under one roof

Students stay inside our architecturally designed stone homestead, with 90 beds across 9 ensuite rooms, split into two wings so teachers can zone groups easily. With bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and evening spaces all under the one roof, supervision is simple, with no traipsing out to toilet blocks in the middle of the night.

  • Hearty, home-style meals cooked on site by our kitchen team in a commercial kitchen
  • Dietary requirements and allergies carefully catered for
  • Teachers’ spaces to debrief and recharge
  • Air conditioning from three new split systems, plus three fireplaces for winter
  • Optional campout nights, where groups can alternate between tents and the homestead
