School camps from Prep to Year 12

We tailor a program to every year level, from a first day trip for Preps to a Year 12 retreat. Here’s how camp changes as students grow.

A first taste of camp

For our youngest students, a day trip is the most common way to come to camp. Day trips include a barbecue lunch, and groups can stay on for an early dinner. We’ve also hosted Prep to Grade 2 groups overnight.

A day trip in Grade 2 is a great way to get students ready for their first overnight camp in Grade 3.

The activities that suit this age best are:

  • Bush art
  • Bush cooking
  • The low ropes course
  • Hut building

We generally don’t run the Survival Game, geocaching, the walk-in, canoeing or archery for Prep to Grade 2, unless a school specifically asks for them.

Grades 3 to 6

Primary school camps

Grade 3 is usually the first year students stay overnight. Two-day and three-day camps are the most popular.

From Grade 3, students can take part in the whole program: archery, canoeing, raft building, geocaching, the Survival Game, the low ropes course, the bouldering wall, hut building and bush cooking. Most camps start with the walk-in through the Long Forest.

Our Curriculum Links Planner maps your program to the Victorian Curriculum for your year level, ready for your school council.

Years 7 to 12

Secondary school camps

We adapt our programs for secondary students, with activities like raft building, canoeing, geocaching and the Survival Game. Secondary groups can do any of our other activities too.

Campouts: a camp out is a popular option for secondary groups, and learning to set up a tent is part of the program. Secondary camps are generally two nights. Half the students sleep in the homestead on the first night and half in tents, then they swap on the second night. We provide the tents and self-inflating mats and run the entire set-up session for you.

Year 7 day activities: popular at the start of the year, for students to get to know each other.

Year 12 retreats: also popular at the start of the year, to set students up for a successful year of study.
